This Sunday, those of you in the Boston area will have a chance to hear \u00a0Proclaiming Pan,<\/strong> <\/strong>the interdisciplinary program presented by flutist\u00a0Elizabeth Erenberg<\/a>\u00a0and an ensemble of some of Boston’s finest musicians, scholars, and actors. The performance will combine music, literature, and theater to sound the stories of Greek mythology.<\/p>\n

Nine Muses<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(2009), my set of nine miniatures for flute, violin, and harp—performed by Gabe Terracciano and\u00a0Maria Rindenello Parker, respectively—will be included on this program in its fourth public performance.<\/p>\n

Each movement of Nine Muses<\/em> take its title and musical character from one of the nine\u00a0Muses\u00a0of Greek mythology. The\u00a0Muses\u00a0are goddesses who were thought to personify and inspire art and knowledge and are often referenced in Western art and literature (especially in epic poetry).\u00a0Nine\u00a0Muses<\/i>\u00a0was premiered at New England Conservatory on March 10, 2009. I am honored that Elizabeth Erenberg has given these miniatures continued life through\u00a0Proclaiming Pan.<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
