Photo by Lucy Nieto.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong><em>Three<\/em><em> Decorations<\/em> is a work for three percussionists in three movements: <strong><em>Column (Ancient Trees Rising)<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>Trencadi\u00cc\u0081s (Shards of Color)<\/em><\/strong>, and\u00a0<em><strong>Tapestry (Cozy Castle)<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/em>Each movement is a musical response to, or evocation of, a favorite image of mine from European decorative art: first, the tree-like vertical extensions of cathedral columns; second, the colorful, asymmetrical style of mosaic popularized by Antoni Gaud\u00c3\u00ad;\u00a0third, some grand tapestry covered in millefleur designs warming the walls of a dark 15th\u00a0century castle.<\/p>\n<p><i>Three Decorations<\/i> is my first foray into writing for drum set in a chamber music context.
